We are lucky enough to have our pal Myka from Modern Sequins on the blog today as our guest blogger! She’s the queen of fun, clever entertaining tips and is such a great energy to be around!Hi, it’s Myka from Modern Sequins. I’m so excited to share with all of you my take on how to style a friend’s birthday party! I believe in celebrating every birthday, whether it be a significant number or not. I mean, come on, what girl wouldn’t love a little party thrown in her honor with her closest girlfriends. I think it’s important to note that you don’t need to spend a lot of time on cooking to throw off a chic party. I for one am not a cook, so I think having a midday party with sweets and mimosas is the epitome of a perfect celebration. For this party, I wanted to make the table feel warm and girly, so I started with a tablecloth in the shades of grey, white and pink. I actually made this tablecloth. It was a super easy diy (check out more details on my blog tomorrow). I basically bought a canvas drop cloth from Home Depot, taped it off, and then painted the sections. So simple and yet I think it adds a fun element to the party. Then I added candlesticks (these are cheapies from IKEA that I spray painted gold) and tapered candles. No matter what time of day, I think candles are a must. I also believe that adding a personal element to a tabletop is a necessity. A simple menu with a message to the birthday girl is a great way to make her feel special. I hope you enjoy this little tabletop styling.
Thanks Myka!
